Whose eyes am I behind?

So I just watched the 8th episode of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos and I need explanations for one particular information about light travel and relativity theory mentioned by Carl. He said that the star ‘Beta’ is 75 light years away from Earth and if it blew up two weeks ago, we won’t be able know it until 75 years in the future.

Now I have questions: First, does this mean the lights of the stars I see at night aren’t real time lights but lights of the stars from X years ago if, let’s say the distance of the stars from Earth is X? Second, does the relativity applies to light travel itself? I mean if it does, if a star is X light years away, the light from that star as we see it today is a light from Y years ago where X>Y. Third, am I asking the right questions?

Apologies if the answer for the third question is no. But I really hope I will receive answers from my followers, if there are any and/or from those people who are tracking the science tags :)
